Fall Fashion Challenge {Day 7} - Wear a Hat

skinny jeans forever 21// purple sweater shirt kohl's// long sweater kohl's// belt forever 21// bow post earrings forever 21// floppy hat forever 21// boots target
Today's theme was to wear a hat. Also, today is the very last day of the fashion challenge. How sad. I hope you all had fun!

A lot of you asked yesterday what pattern I used for my skirt. I used Marie-Madeline Studio's Route 66 pattern. You must try the pattern out sometime. It is one of my favorites.

Also, y'all will be happy to hear that tomorrow, I'll post pictures of my cocktail dress. *smile*

Fall Fashion Challenge {Day 6} - Fav. Fall Trend

jean skirt made by me// plaid shirt hand-me-up// boots target// leather headband made be me

Today's theme was favorite fall trend. I picked plaid. I was feeling a little country today, besides I wanted to wear something comfy.

I'm thankful that I was able to finish my dress late last night, at 11:59PM  to be exact {I just have to hem it after I write this post}. *grin* I'm hoping to get ready for the banquet today early, that way Gabrielle can take pictures of my dress for y'all! *smile*

Fall Fashion Challenge {Day 5} - Polka Dots {& other prints}

polka dot blouse forever 21// cardigan forever 21// jean skirt made by me// heart tights target// oxford heels forever 21// birdcage necklace forever 21
Boy, was it cold outside when we took these pictures. {The things one does for a fashion event/fashion blog.} Anyways, today's theme was polka-dots {or any print you own}. In honor of print day, I mixed two prints in my outfit polka-dots on my blouse and hearts on my tights. Which is fitting as I LOVE polka-dots. *smile*

Fall Fashion Challenge {Day 4} - Favorite Era

1950s circle skirt made by me// burgundy top liz claiborne outlet// scarf forever 21// seamed tights forever 21// oxford heels forever 21// earrings forever 21
Today's theme was favorite era. I decided to do 1950s with a modern twist. The bottom half of me is very vintage, while the top half is more modern. What do y'll think? I can't wait to see what all of you do for today's challenge!

Sorry about the lateness in today's post! I've been busy working on a powerpoint/keynote for my dad's banquet this Friday. Which reminds me, I really need to start sewing my dress for Friday. *grin* Yep, I have to make the mock-up AND sew my dress before 3PM Friday afternoon. Think I can make it? I dearly hope I can. {BTW: My dress inspiration is early '60s & Kate Spade cocktail dresses}

Which reminds me, Kellie is hosting a fun, and huge, one year blog anniversary giveaway right now. Go check it out here

Fall Fashion Challenge {Day 3} - Bold Tights

black t-shirt target/ black tank j.c.penny/ jean skirt made by me/ scarf forever 21/ earrings j.c.penny/ pinkish tights j.c.penny or kohl's/ oxford heels forever 21
Today's theme is bold tights. I had a hard time deciding which color I should wear today. At first, I thought about wearing my mustard colored tights, then I decided against it. I went with my pinkish tights instead. Instead of going all out and wearing a bunch of color today, I went more simple. Hehe...I also included yesterday's challenge into today's outfit. As I'm wearing black, brown, and blue together. Well, I guess I break that fashion rule almost everyday.

Fall Fashion Challenge {Day 2}

denim a-line skirt made by me/ grey shirt from junior section J.C. Penny/ scarf Forever 21/ brown belt Maurice's/ brown boots Target/ brown purse Fossil {Relic brand}

I'm not sure how many of you lovely readers know who I am so I will offer an introduction. I am Ashley's sister, Gabrielle Renee. I am also a contributor of this blog but as I am home schooled senior in high-school I don't have as much time to post as Ashley. ;) You can visit me at my own blog, Gabrielle's Atelier. I am much more of a photographer than a model, which explains my rather poor poses....

Today's theme was colors that don't normally go together. I chose grey and brown. Personally, this is my first time wearing this color combination and I find I rather like it. I opted to tuck in my shirt and add a large belt to disguise the fact that the shirt is very long and tends to make me look shorter. I have been doing this to most of my outfits this past week. It works splendidly with really long cardigans as well; just make sure the cardigan isn't thick and adds unnecessary bulk to your waist.

Fall Fashion Challenge {Day 1}

Vintage Silk Skirt Portobello Road Market/ Cream Ruffle Tank Gap Outlet/ Black Blazer Forever 21/ Green Scarf Target/ Birdcage Necklace Forever 21/ Lucy Earrings Made by me {you can buy them in my shop}/ Cream Tights J.C.Penny/ Oxford Shoes Forever 21
Hello everyone! Y'all ready for the Fall Fashion Challenge to kick off? I'm so excited to see everyone's outfits this week. Eeep. I'm so excited.

My sister, Hanne-col, helped me put together my outfit for today. I was so tired when I woke up this morning {crazy weekend} that I couldn't figure out what to wear. So I just asked, Hanne-col, what I should wear. She really wanted me to wear one of her favorite skirts, my vintage silk skirt from London, UK. I hardly ever wear this as a skirt {it is one of those skirts that also double as a tunic} as it fits funny when I wear it as a skirt. But I wore it. Plus, I never got pictures of me wearing this as a skirt up on the blog. I ended up really liking this outfit. What do you think?

What I Wore - 1970s Inspired Outfit {Floppy Hat}

polka dot silk-blend top forever 21/ cardigan forever 21/ jeans maurices/ skinny belt forever 21/ boots target/ bird cage necklace forever 21/ floppy hat forever 21/ dangle earrings forever 21

I've been looking for the perfect floppy hat for a couple years now. When I first wanted one hats were not very popular - not like they are today. Then when hats were "in" I couldn't find a floppy that looked good on me. You know what I mean? So I was thrilled when I found this fedora meets floppy hat on Forever21.com a couple weeks ago. I placed the order for it last week and it arrived in my mailbox Wednesday. Which reminds me, if you are interested. I have a collective haul video posted on my YouTube channel.

When I was looking over these pictures I kept thinking of one of my favorite fashion bloggers, Jessica Quirk of What I Wore. She will wear outfits like from time to time {mostly in the Fall & Winter}. Which is fun! As she was one of the first fashion bloggers I followed.

Do you like it when there are lots of pictures in a outfit post {like this post}? Or do you prefer less pictures?

What I Wore - Graphic Tee + Blazer + Oxford Heels

Inspiration for my outfit today. {Yes, I know the skirt is short. This is JUST for INSPIRATION.}
  floral skirt made by me {pattern}/ detroit tigers #30 t-shirt meijers/ blazer forever 21/ tights {they are pink not red} j.c.penny or kohl's/ flower ring forever 21/ oxford heels forever 21

My oxford heels from Forever21.com arrived yesterday in the mail. I LOVE them! They are so comfy & cute. The heels are 3 inches high {they make me 5' 11"}, but to me that height is comfortable. I have one leg that is half a inch shorter then my other side {well, my whole right side is smaller then my left} so wearing heels help me stand better than flats do.

This pink floral skirt is my most featured piece of clothing on the blog. And I have never worn this skirt the same way twice on here. So many things from my closet go with this skirt that it's crazy!! It is almost like the skirt is a neutral color and not pink at all.

I'll be having yet another package coming in the mail tomorrow from Forever21.com. So I'm thinking about filming a collective haul video for my YouTube Channel this week. What do y'all think? I love watching haul videos on YouTube. It helps when buying things online, because you get to see the product better then you would in just pictures.

What I Wore - Shades of Grey & Blue

grey cardigan forever 21/ grey belt forever 21/ bib necklace bass shoe outlet/ white tank j.c.penny/ bracelets forever 21/ argyle tights j.c.penny or kohl's/ teacher's pet skirt c/o shabby apple / black flats payless

This week I styled one of Shabby Apple's newest skirts, Teacher's Pet.  I've loved it since it was released, was that last month? So I was delighted when they sent me this skirt to wear. Wasn't that nice of them? Well, I can't wait to style it many different ways this fall and winter.

How would you style this skirt?

2011 Fall Trends

There are several fall trends I'm looking forward to doing this year. Now normally I don't follow the trends too much. But this year, many of the trends are what I love to wear! What are the odds of that? *laughs* So with out further ado, some of the trends for this fall.

Fall Fashion Trends: Polka Dots

Polka Dots: I'm always wearing polka dots as they are one of my favorite prints. With them being a trend this fall it will make it that much easier to find things that are polka doted. *smiles*

Fall Fashion Trends: Mustard

Mustard yellow: I was in love with this color last year, but I never bought anything that was mustard {except for fabric for my pencil skirt I made last summer}. That is all going to change this year for me. I would love to have shoes, belt, purse, hat, and scarf all in this wonderful color. *sighs*

Fall Fashion Trends: Plaid

Large Over-sized Plaids (Granny Style): What an exciting trend! Plaid. I already own a largish sized plaid coat (made it back in 2009, you can see the post here), and several plaid skirts. Oh, I almost forgot, a plaid scarf too.

Fall Fashion Trends: Maxi Skirt + Chunky Sweater

Chunky Sweaters Over Maxi Dresses/Skirts: I already did this trend once {pictures here} and loved it. I just don't own many maxi dresses, or skirts for that matter. I find that they can get in the way when sewing (I'm always getting up and down from the floor). But I still love this look. It is also an easy way to bring your summer wardrobe into your fall wardrobe.

Fall Fashion Trends: 1970s

1970s: The 70s are coming back and I don't know what to think. I'm on the fence about this one. While it is nice that fuller pant legs are coming back. Oh, also floppy hats - love them! But overall I'm still not sure. :p What do you girls think?

Fall Fashion Trends: Western

American Western (Southwest): Is in everywhere at stores. You can buy western themed scarfs, purses, jewelry, and what not everywhere. This will make shopping for my sister, Hanne-col much easier for me this Christmas. As she loves the western style. *smiles*

What trends are looking forward to this fall?

Hey, I just thought of a really cool idea. Wouldn't it be awesome if online stores let you searched by color, or trend? I love having clothes organized by color. In fact, my closet is organized by color within the sub-categories {tops, skirts, sweaters, vests).
