What I Wore - Color Burst {Route 66 Skirt}

cream blouse forever 21/ green knit vest j.c.penny/ mixed print route 66 skirt made by me {pattern}/ pinkish tights j.c.penny/ oxford heels forever 21/ bow necklace forever 21/ brown belt forever 21/ dangle earrings forever 21

I've been meaning to blog about this skirt since April. And look. It is almost November. Boy, is the year going by fast. I think it goes by faster each year. Anyways, about this skirt. This is my first Route 66 skirt, and only, that is made from different print fabrics. I tend to have a hard time mixing my prints when I'm sewing. But you know what? I really love this skirt. It is just very hard for my to style it. Why? Most of my shirts in my closet are either the wrong shade, or are a print. I'm thinking I may have too many print tops {and not the right mixing kind either}. I really need to start buying more basics and less trendy colors, or prints. :p

What I Wore - 1970s Inspired Outfit {Floppy Hat}

polka dot silk-blend top forever 21/ cardigan forever 21/ jeans maurices/ skinny belt forever 21/ boots target/ bird cage necklace forever 21/ floppy hat forever 21/ dangle earrings forever 21

I've been looking for the perfect floppy hat for a couple years now. When I first wanted one hats were not very popular - not like they are today. Then when hats were "in" I couldn't find a floppy that looked good on me. You know what I mean? So I was thrilled when I found this fedora meets floppy hat on Forever21.com a couple weeks ago. I placed the order for it last week and it arrived in my mailbox Wednesday. Which reminds me, if you are interested. I have a collective haul video posted on my YouTube channel.

When I was looking over these pictures I kept thinking of one of my favorite fashion bloggers, Jessica Quirk of What I Wore. She will wear outfits like from time to time {mostly in the Fall & Winter}. Which is fun! As she was one of the first fashion bloggers I followed.

Do you like it when there are lots of pictures in a outfit post {like this post}? Or do you prefer less pictures?

What I Wore - Graphic Tee + Blazer + Oxford Heels

Inspiration for my outfit today. {Yes, I know the skirt is short. This is JUST for INSPIRATION.}
  floral skirt made by me {pattern}/ detroit tigers #30 t-shirt meijers/ blazer forever 21/ tights {they are pink not red} j.c.penny or kohl's/ flower ring forever 21/ oxford heels forever 21

My oxford heels from Forever21.com arrived yesterday in the mail. I LOVE them! They are so comfy & cute. The heels are 3 inches high {they make me 5' 11"}, but to me that height is comfortable. I have one leg that is half a inch shorter then my other side {well, my whole right side is smaller then my left} so wearing heels help me stand better than flats do.

This pink floral skirt is my most featured piece of clothing on the blog. And I have never worn this skirt the same way twice on here. So many things from my closet go with this skirt that it's crazy!! It is almost like the skirt is a neutral color and not pink at all.

I'll be having yet another package coming in the mail tomorrow from Forever21.com. So I'm thinking about filming a collective haul video for my YouTube Channel this week. What do y'all think? I love watching haul videos on YouTube. It helps when buying things online, because you get to see the product better then you would in just pictures.

Who Inspires Me (Fashion Wise) - Lauren Bacall

I know it has been a really long time since I have done one of these. Like really long. Some of my readers may not even know of this series. If you haven't seen any of these posts before, here is who I've  done so far: Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn, Judy Garland, and Deanna Durbin.

Today's post is going to be on Lauren Bacall, one of my new favorite actresses. She was married to one of my favorite actors, Humphrey Bogart, and I simply adore the movies that they do together. But we are not talking about Bogie right now, but Bacall his wife. *smiles*

An adorable outfit that Bacall wears in Key Largo {1948} with Bogie. Very simple, yet chic.

 Adorable pant and blouse outfit. Love the button details on her blouse.

Lovely lace blouse that could be perfect for 2011.

Love, love, love this stripe dress. {the fireplace is cute too!}

A full view picture of the outfit Bacall wears in Key Largo {1948}.

Movies I've seen her in:
  • To Have & Have Not {1944}
  • Key Largo {1948}
On my "to watch list":
  • The Big Sleep {1946} - This one is going to be on TCM come November 1st.
  • Dark Passage {1947} - I own this one. Just haven't watched it yet.
  • Designing Woman {1957} - I'll be taping this one Wednesday on the TCM channel.
I can't believe I've only seen two of her movies so far. Well, that will be remedy soon.
What's your favorite outfit of Lauren Bacall's? And what's your favorite film with her? I'm always open to Old Hollywood movie recommendations.

Lena Headey as Queen Gorgo

Lena Headey 300 Movie premiere

Spartan King Leonidas (Gerard Butler) and 300 Spartans fight to the last man against Persian "God-King" Xerxes (Rodrigo Santoro) and his army of more than one million soldiers. As the battle rages, Spartan Queen Gorgo (Lena Headey) attempts to rally support in Sparta for her husband. The story is framed by a voice-over narrative by the Spartan soldier Dilios (David Wenham).

Sin City author Frank Miller's sweeping take on the historic Battle of Thermopylae comes to the screen courtesy of Dawn of the Dead director Zack Snyder. Gerard Butler stars as Spartan King Leonidas and Lena Headey plays Queen Gorgo. The massive army of the Persian Empire is sweeping across the globe, crushing every force that dares stand in its path. When a Persian envoy arrives in Sparta offering King Leonidas power over all of Greece if he will only bow to the will of the all powerful Xerxes (Rodrigo Santoro), the strong-willed leader assembles a small army comprised of his empire's best fighters and marches off to battle. Though they have virtually no hope of defeating Xerxes' intimidating battalion, Leonidas' men soldier on, intent on letting it be known they will bow to no man but their king.

Meanwhile, back in Sparta, the loyal Queen Gorgo attempts to convince both the skeptical council and the devious Theron (Dominic West) to send more troops despite the fact that many view Leonidas' unsanctioned war march as a serious transgression. As Xerxes' fearsome "immortals" draw near, a few noble Greeks vow to assist the Spartans on the battlefield. When King Leonidas and his 300 Spartan warriors fell to the overwhelming Persian army at the Battle of Thermopylae, the fearless actions of the noble fighters inspired all of Greece to stand up against their Persian enemy and wage the battle that would ultimately give birth to the modern concept of democracy.

Lena Headey as Queen Gorgo - Queen of Sparta

300 Queen Gorgo Action Figure

300 Queen Gorgo Action Figure: Adapted from the graphic novel by acclaimed creator Frank Miller, 300 is a romanticized tale of the King Leonidas and the 300 Spartans that held Thermopylae against the Persian army, by which they were greatly outnumbered. Neca Toys produced this line of 7-inch scale action figures based on the blockbuster movie hit starring Gerard Butler. Collect them all, each sold separately. 128 In 480 BC the Persian empire was poised to conquer all of Greece. While their countrymen turned and fled from their invaders, a band of 300 Spartan warriors faced off against the largest army the world had ever seen. Led by King Leonidas, the Spartans would show an empire what it meant to be truly heroic. From Warner Bros. comes 300, an action-packed epic inspired by Frank Miller's award-winning graphic novel. Starring Gerard Butler as Leonidas, 300 is a ground breaking special effects masterpiece.

Fall Fashion Challenge 2011

shopruche.com
The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair. The beauty of a woman is seen in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides. True beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It's the caring that she lovingly gives, the passion that she shows & the beauty of a woman only grows with passing years. - Audrey Hepburn

It has been awhile since we have hosted a fashion week. So I thought it was high time we hosted another one. Sound good? This one is going to be slightly different from the other ones we have done. I explain below.

How can I participate?
By posting photos of your outfits on your blog and linking them {your blog post, please!} up on Bramblewood Fashion daily via Mr. Linky which will be found in my outfit posts everyday.

I ♥ Thursday {no. 15}

These adorable oxford heels that I bought on Forever21.com Tuesday night. I've been wanting a pair of oxford heels since 2009, so I wasn't about to let these slip through my fingers {like so many pairs before these} and become sold out before I could buy them. So I snatched them up right away. =)

I've been wearing this grey skinny belt with almost every outfit since it arrived in the mail last Tuesday. It is the perfect shade of grey and the perfect length. And for only $1.50 it's a steal.

The perfect amount of vintage & country charm.
