Who Inspires Me (Fashion Wise) - Lauren Bacall

I know it has been a really long time since I have done one of these. Like really long. Some of my readers may not even know of this series. If you haven't seen any of these posts before, here is who I've  done so far: Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn, Judy Garland, and Deanna Durbin.

Today's post is going to be on Lauren Bacall, one of my new favorite actresses. She was married to one of my favorite actors, Humphrey Bogart, and I simply adore the movies that they do together. But we are not talking about Bogie right now, but Bacall his wife. *smiles*

An adorable outfit that Bacall wears in Key Largo {1948} with Bogie. Very simple, yet chic.

 Adorable pant and blouse outfit. Love the button details on her blouse.

Lovely lace blouse that could be perfect for 2011.

Love, love, love this stripe dress. {the fireplace is cute too!}

A full view picture of the outfit Bacall wears in Key Largo {1948}.

Movies I've seen her in:
  • To Have & Have Not {1944}
  • Key Largo {1948}
On my "to watch list":
  • The Big Sleep {1946} - This one is going to be on TCM come November 1st.
  • Dark Passage {1947} - I own this one. Just haven't watched it yet.
  • Designing Woman {1957} - I'll be taping this one Wednesday on the TCM channel.
I can't believe I've only seen two of her movies so far. Well, that will be remedy soon.
What's your favorite outfit of Lauren Bacall's? And what's your favorite film with her? I'm always open to Old Hollywood movie recommendations.

Who Inspires Me (Fashion Wise) - Deanna Durbin

Let's see here, the last time I did a Who Inspires Me (Fashion Wise) post was in February. Oh. my. My past posts where on Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn, and Judy Garland

Today's post is on one of my very favorite actresses, Deanna Durbin. She is adorable, beautiful, and has some of the cutest clothes. Oh, did I mention her hair? I would love to have her hair. It's gorgeous! :)

Deanna wears some adorable clothing in the film, Christmas Holiday {1944}. Which has Gene Kelly in it - as a bad guy and she doesn't know it. It's a tragic - yet a simply lovely movie. :)

Here's an adorable outfit and hat that Deanna is wearing. And her shoes! They look like they have bows on them! How cute.

A sweet and darling formal. I love the ruffle at the bottom. Once again her hair is beautiful.

Lovely red coat and blue scarf.

Cute polka-dot formal.

Cute formal for a young lady in her early to mid-teens.

Movies I've Seen Her In:

Something in the Wind {1947}
Christmas Holiday {1944}
His Butler's Sisters {1943}
The Amazing Mrs. Holiday {1943}
It's a Date {1940}
It Started with Eve {1941}
First Love {1939}
Mad About Music {1938}
One Hundred Men and a Girl {1937}
Lady on a Train {1945}

Have you seen any of Deanna Durbin's films? What are your favorite one{s}? What is your favorite outfit of hers? Also, do any of you know of a good site for non-head shot pictures of Deanna Durbin?

Who Inspires Me (Fashion Wise) - Judy Garland

The next on the list is Judy Garland. Now a year ago I hadn't seen one Judy Garland film. Now, I have seen almost every film that Judy Garland & Mickey Rooney filmed together. :) There is also another reason why I have chosen Judy. She is one of Gabrielle's favorite actresses and well, tomorrow is Gabrielle's birthday. {I'll have a special post for her tomorrow.} =)

"Easter Parade" - Fred Astaire & Judy Garland
Judy's outfits always look so pretty and fun. And I have a mile long list of clothes I would love to copy of Judy Garland's.

1. Strike Up the Band      2. Meet me in St. Louis

She has some simply darling outfits in Meet Me in St. Louis!

Girl Crazy
I LOVE the formal Judy wears in the movie Girl Crazy!! It is so pretty! I would dearly love to recreate it someday.

A fun top and skirt that Judy wears in Girl Crazy. I also love her hair! :) I must learn to set my hair like hers.

Movies I've seen Judy Garland in -
  • Strike Up the Band {1940} {movie review}
  • Thoroughbreds Don't Cry {1937} {movie review}
  • In the Good Old Summertime {1949} {movie review}
  • Girl Crazy {1943}
  • Babes on Broadway {1941}
  • Andy Hardy Meets Debutante {1940}
  • Babes in Arms {1939}
  • Meet Me In St. Louis {1944}
What's your favorite outfit of Judy Garland's? And what's your favorite film with her?

p.s.
Thank you for answering my question in the last post! I'm so glad that the blog now runs faster for most of you! And thank you for the well wishes! I dearly hope that I will get better soon.  Well, that me and my siblings will get better soon. I've been sick in bed for one whole week now. I'm never this sick. Or are any of us, for that matter.

Who Inspires Me (Fashion Wise) - Audrey Hepburn

For Attractive lips, speak words of kindness, For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people, For a slim figure, share your food with the hungry, For Beautiful hair, let a child run their fingers through it once a day, For poise, walk with the knowledge that you never walk alone. People, more than things, have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed, and redeemed. Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, you will find one at the end of each of your arms. As you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands, one for helping yourself and the other for helping others. - Audrey Hepburn

With the Keeping it Classy {Modest Fashion Week} coming up I decided to bring back the Who Inspires Me {Fashion Wise} series, which only lasted one post last year {It was Grace Kelly}. I know, I'm so bad about doing blog post series. I'll try to do better this year. =)

To bring back the series I'll start off with Audrey Hepburn. Who has to be one of my favorite inspirational ladies, fashion wise, ever!

I would love to see a full length pictures of this photo shoot/what ever. For her dress{?} looks fabulous!! And the umbrella is so colorful and fun! I like.

Her look is so casual, but looks classy and nice. I don't know how she did it. As she is just wearing jeans{I think}, sweatshirt or oversized shirt, and her hair is wrapped in a scarf/towel!!!

 A sweet, darling, little summer print dress. I would love to have a nice little print dress for this summer like this one. I can imagine the flowers to be a purple {not sure if it's light, or dark purple.} and the background is a cream, or white. Oh, a girl can dream on finding the perfect fabric or ready made dress like this one. ;-)

 The amazing outfit Audrey wears in Roman Holiday. It's just a simple blouse, skirt, and scarf {silk?} with a scooter! I would love to ride a scooter around Rome {just less hectic}, or just one in general. =)

As you guys know, I LOVE this jumper that Audrey wears in Sabrina. And I was able to copy it last week after years of dreaming! What bliss.

Who Inspires Me (Fashion Wise) - Grace Kelly

“Who Inspires Me” (Fashion Wise) will be a new series that I will try to do once every 2-3 weeks, or even once a month. =) My first post will be on Grace Kelly. Grace Kelly, a lady whose style matches her name - Graceful. Though I have never seen a film with Grace Kelly I love her style.

Her wedding dress is one of my favorite weddings dresses ever! She is also the only actress I have a book on; which I recommend picking up. It is called, Grace Kelly: Icon of Style to Royal Bride and it has lovely pictures and even has a section on her wedding dress. :)

Some of my favorite outfits/pictures of Grace Kelly are the following:

 This look can easily be worn today. It is only a simple button down shirt, cardigan, skirt, and belt; very simple, yet stylish.

One of my favorite causal looks. Jeans (rolled up slightly), button down shirt, and penny loafers.

I LOVE this dress from High Society!

This lovely  dress is from Rear Window.

A lovely party dress! Very modest too.

So far I have recreated only one of her dresses. And it is her fancy dress seen in Rear Window (1954) with Jimmy Stewart.

My version has two changes from hers, I raised my necklines (in front and back), and my over-skirt has no embroidery, instead it sparkles. =)

::My version::

I know you all are going to ask, 'what pattern did you use?' Yes? Well, I drafted it. Meaning I made my own pattern. =) And this was my first try, back in 2008.

What is your favorite Grace Kelly outfit or movie?
