Who Inspires Me (Fashion Wise) - Judy Garland

The next on the list is Judy Garland. Now a year ago I hadn't seen one Judy Garland film. Now, I have seen almost every film that Judy Garland & Mickey Rooney filmed together. :) There is also another reason why I have chosen Judy. She is one of Gabrielle's favorite actresses and well, tomorrow is Gabrielle's birthday. {I'll have a special post for her tomorrow.} =)

"Easter Parade" - Fred Astaire & Judy Garland
Judy's outfits always look so pretty and fun. And I have a mile long list of clothes I would love to copy of Judy Garland's.

1. Strike Up the Band      2. Meet me in St. Louis

She has some simply darling outfits in Meet Me in St. Louis!

Girl Crazy
I LOVE the formal Judy wears in the movie Girl Crazy!! It is so pretty! I would dearly love to recreate it someday.

A fun top and skirt that Judy wears in Girl Crazy. I also love her hair! :) I must learn to set my hair like hers.

Movies I've seen Judy Garland in -
  • Strike Up the Band {1940} {movie review}
  • Thoroughbreds Don't Cry {1937} {movie review}
  • In the Good Old Summertime {1949} {movie review}
  • Girl Crazy {1943}
  • Babes on Broadway {1941}
  • Andy Hardy Meets Debutante {1940}

p.s.
Thank you for answering my question in the last post! I'm so glad that the blog now runs faster for most of you! And thank you for the well wishes! I dearly hope that I will get better soon.  Well, that me and my siblings will get better soon. I've been sick in bed for one whole week now. I'm never this sick. Or are any of us, for that matter.

I ♥ Thursday {no. 5}

Hello everyone! Today is Christmas Adam. Get it? Christmas Adam comes the day before Christmas Eve. You know, Adam & Eve. lol. :) Well, besides being Christmas Adam today it is a Thursday, meaning it's time for I ♥ Thursday.

I love Basil Rathbone reading aloud the book, Sherlock Holmes. You know what, I could listen to him read all day. :)

Russian Tea Cakes. Yum.

This really cool laptop cover.
(edited: I found where this is sold!!! Click here.) (:

This outfit from Casablanca that Ingrid Bergman wears. (I saw this costume when I was in L.A. this summer. It is so pretty! The blouse is a rusty paisley print with a black skirt.)

The radio & 50s TV Show Dragnet

This beautiful dress that Judy Garland wears in Girl Crazy.

The old Disney movie, 101 Dalmatians

I ♥ Thursday {no. 4}

I love this whole look. But, I would just change the neckline to something more modest. :)

This 1950 Christian Dior dress.

The darling hairstyle seen here.

Peppermints.

The TV Show What's My Line?.

Her whole look. It's so vintage-y.

"Strike Up The Band" {1940}

Strike Up The Band {1940} is one delightful, charming, feel good movie. I saw it for the first time this past Friday with Gabrielle and Hanne-col - we loved it! In fact, it was our first Judy Garland & Mickey Rooney film we ever saw. For that matter, it was our first Judy Garland movie we ever saw. =) Needless to say, she is a darling.

Judy was lovely. Mickey was hilarious. They made us laugh and feel oh, so happy. It had great songs and some fun dance routines. Plus, Judy's wardrobe was one I wouldn't mind owning myself. Her wardrobe is great for some 1940s teenage sewing inspiration. ;-)

Some of my favorite songs from the movie were, Our Love Affair, Drummer Boy, and Nobody.
