A Little About Me...

In response to my last post two of my darling clients (both are past brides) said I should post more about myself. Both said something along the lines of how if they had known more about me before their shoots they would have been less nervous. Awww, that is like the nicest compliment ever.
SO, I thought I would let you all in on five little facts about me right now:

1. I am a super girly girl... BUT I am also super low maintenence. I just love beauty, fashion and glamour, but I guess I think it's for everyone else to don... I just enjoy it vicariously.

2. I am a quasi-vegetarian (for health reasons), but I am married to a meat-a-tarian (yeah I know that's not a word). It makes preparing dinners, well, difficult.

3. I wear comfy clothes to shoot in. Hey, I have to crawl on the floor and navigate around my lights, I am not going to make it harder on myself... so yeah I pretty much look like I'm in my pajamas while I shoot. OH YEAH, this doesn't apply to weddings, I do dress up for those, I promise.

4. I have a four year old daughter and I think she is the sweetest, cutest, smartest little thing ever! But, all mom's feel that way.

5. I am married to the greatest guy in the world... no, really I am.

So there you have it, me in a nutshell (or at least in an abbreviated blog post). Now I have to run. I am off to watch American Idol. I have it on good authority that the super talented husband of a certain makeup artist that I adore (Valerie Osmond) is going to be trying out... Good luck David!

I need some advice...

Ok girls. I need some advice about my little blog here. I am completely NOT bragging, but looking at the stats there are a lot of people visiting and checking out what I have to say... Knowing that, I suddenly feel like I should be more, well... interesting.
I honestly started this blog as a way to share some pictures, news and info about my boudoir photography business. Do I feel like I am accomplishing that? Somewhat. A lot of my time is spent working, editing photos, with family, and just all that other stuff all of us busy women spend our time on.
So I need opinions! What do you want to see? More pictures? More resources for wedding planning in Utah(about half my clients are brides)? More advice/articles/info about boudoir sessions? More info about me (sheesh I sound so narcissistic all of the sudden)? More random weird blogs like this one?

De-Mystifying Chocolates

Ok, Ok, I'll admit it... I love Martha Stewart. Her Living and Weddings magazines are pure eye candy. And speaking of candy, Valentine's Day is coming up and undoubtedly you are going to run into a box of chocolates and if you are like me you know you are going to have at least one. And, if you are going to have one you might as well make it one you like. In this month's Martha Stewart Living magazine Ms. Stewart gives some handy tips for identifying what might be hidden under that layer of chocolate if there is no handy little guide to help you out.

I am going to paraphrase what she says (and add observations from my own experience), but pick up this month's magazine for more fun Valentine's Day stuff.

Like soft centered chocolates? Look for a round smooth shape. A foot/base on the bottom probably means a cherry chocolate. If it's wrapped it probably has a liquid center.

Are caramels more your thing? Look for a square or rectangle shape. It makes sense, you make caramels in pans and then cut them before they are dipped. The flat hard ones are usually toffee.

Like something a little crunchy in your chocolate? Large bumps usually mean nuts and small bumps usually mean coconut.

So there you go - Chocolates De-Mystified.

Ooh La La

Just wanted to share some fun album pages from a super fun shoot that actually happened awhile back (November, to be exact, and I shot her sister back in June!). I just wanted to give her some time to suprise her sweetie with the sexy album she ordered.

New Stuff - Yay

I am very excited. I have some new products to offer. It's taken me some time to get everything together. I am VERY picky about quality and presentation. I know my clients want the absolute most gorgeous boudoir pictures and the best ways to give them as gifts and to display them, so yeah, that's the reason it takes me time. So the past few weeks I have been wading through samples (and comparing cost because I know that's important too).

I will be taking pictures and getting them up soon, so stay tuned.

ALSO... I get asked a lot about boudoir parties. Yes, this is something we can put together and do! They are perfect for Bachelorette parties, Girl's Night Out parties or just because! Putting together a party is a pretty customized thing so send me an email and let me know what you are thinking of doing and we'll get all the details worked out. Usually parties are done with about 4 girls (too many more and it's hard to get enough shooting time for everyone) and sometimes they are done somewhere where you can stay the night or other times we can do them at my studio and just make a day of it. But like I said, email me with questions!

Happy New Year

2009 is here. Has everyone made their resolutions for this new year? I have the standard ones I make every year. You know, eat healthier (sheesh, why is this so hard? I am a nutrition nerd, come on quiz me! I know everything, why can't I just DO IT), be more organized (I need to find a place for everything, and then keep it there!), and be a better mommy (I am going for that "quality time" thing since a quantity of time just ain't gonna happen), and basically all those other little quests for perfection.
My zodiac sign is Virgo (it's cheesy that I brought that up, I know) and apparently we are supposed to be perfectionists. I have ALWAYS said that this wasn't me because I am not perfect. I just figured it out though! A perfectionist is not someone that IS perfect, it is someone that WANTS to be perfect! ... I guess I am a perfectionist :( It's tragic.
