News

Hello everyone! I'm just letting you all know that, we are going to be out of town on vacation next week (Sunday - Saturday). So there will be no posts until we get back. I (Ashley) had hoped to schedule some posts for while we are gone, but the week just flied by. =)

We wanted to thank Natasha and Bess for their awards and tags. We will do a proper post for them them when we return.

We also have a surprise planned for the first week of May. =) So be on the look out for that. It is something fun and fashion(y). And I bet none of you can guess what it is. You can try guessing in a comment. It would be fun to see if anyone can guess what it is. ;-)

Other exciting news (I'm just full of news today) is that, this is Bramblewood Fashion's 150th post! And we have 71 followers! Thank you everyone who reads and follows this blog! For if it wasn't for your support and comments, this blog wouldn't have grown has much as it has since I started last August.

Blessings,
Ashley & Gabrielle

Cath Kidston - Spring/Summer Inspiration

Some how I stumbled upon Cath Kidston last year (online)...and fell right in love with her designs. They have such a vintage/whimsy feel about them...almost picture book like. I had hope to visit one of her stores while I was in London last Fall, but I just didn't find the time. Maybe next time. ;)

Here is what is inspiring me from their spring/summer collection.

I LOVE this jean skirt and would love to make one just like it.

How about these cherry red polka-dot wellies? Aren't they just darling? I love them!

This would be fun to recreate. Though, I don't know where I would find badges for different UK sites. :)
How cute are these vintage(y) hair-bows? And they come in three vintage colors.

If you didn't know already, I love polka-dots! Like this dress. And look, it also comes with a matching polka-dot belt!

What about you? What are your favorites? Or is Cath Kidston not your style? =)

Polka Dotted Headband

I love headbands, but I also don't want to spend a lot of money on them either. So I have come up with a solution...make my own! This headband was made from fabric scraps (which I have way too many of!), a button from an old wool coat, and a piece of elastic. The flower was made from a tutorial I found on Marie-Madeline Studio.  This was so easy to make, that I don't think I will ever buy another headband. =)

What's in Your Purse?

I was thinking about a business seminar I attended awhile ago. The people running it wanted everyone to mingle and get to know each other. We were all women. They told us to pull a beauty product out of our purse and tell the woman across the table about it, as if we were recommending it to a friend. If you didn't have a beauty product you could use something else or make something up. It was wildly successful! Every woman uses some sort of beauty product even if it's Vaseline in a tube for your lips. I pulled out my favorite lip gloss du jour and the lady across from me introduced me to oil blotting sheets. I still remember the brand, Crabtree & Evelyn. She told me about how she gets shiny skin throughout the day (me too) and how you blot them on your face to absorb oil instead of caking on more powder. Brilliant!

For fun I'll tell you what I have in my purse today. Nothing fancy, just products I love and use every day.

  • Glow Baby Glow lip gloss in Pink Crush
  • Brand name: mark. (Avon's teen brand, go figure)
  • Why I love it: It's not sticky but super glossy looking. It has a sheer pretty pink color and slight minty scent (totally kissable). It's super moisturizing and I don't have to apply it every few minutes. Yay!

  • Body Lotion in Sweet Pea Forever
  • Brand name: Bath and Body Works
  • Why I love it: It has a feminine floral scent but with citrus mixed in so it doesn't smell like your grandma's perfume (florals are just that way sometimes).

  • Breath Mints in Spearmint
  • Brand name: BreathSavers (Hershey)
  • Why I love it: They are sugar free, taste really great (not overpowering or too strong) and they really do freshen your breath for a long time after the mint is gone. They claim for 3 hours, but by then I've popped in another one because they are so yummy. And yes, mints are beauty products!

New Picture... more to come

I know, I know, my posts need more pictures. I just seem so busy shooting and editing and shooting... and editing that I forget to share images here.

This is brand new, I haven't even gone through all the pictures. Don't worry I have a signed model release, I won't show your pictures unless you say it's okay.
She brought her own fake eyelashes for a very dramatic look. I love it. I'll post more when I can.
